Eight vehicles, including a Skoda Octavia and a Mercedes lorry, were involved in a crash on the M1 in Hinckley and Bosworth at 18:40 on Tuesday 25 November 2014. The 48-year-old male driver of the Ford Mondeo was killed and the 44-year-old female driver of the Volkswagen Passat and the 46-year-old female driver of the Volkswagen Tiguan were seriously injured.

It happened after dark with no street lighting in fine weather on a dry dual carriageway with a 70 mph limit, away from any junction.
