Five vehicles, including a Mercedes lorry and a Seat Cordoba, were involved in a crash on the M1 in West Northamptonshire at 04:20 on Thursday 15 December 2005. The 28-year-old male driver of the Seat Cordoba, a 28-year-old female passenger in the Seat Cordoba and a 30-year-old female passenger in the Seat Cordoba were killed and one other person was slightly injured.

It happened after dark under street lighting in fine weather on a dry dual carriageway with a 70 mph limit, away from any junction.
