Twenty vehicles, including two Volvo 440 cars and three Ford Escorts, were involved in a crash on the M42 in Bromsgrove at 20:15 on Saturday 12 March 1994. The 28-year-old male driver of vehicle 7 and a male passenger aged under 1 in vehicle 7 were killed, seven other people were seriously injured and one was slightly injured.

It happened after dark with no street lighting in fine weather on a wet dual carriageway with a 70 mph limit, away from any junction.
